why are we doing this?
The Value of educationEducation must enable one to sift and weigh evidence, to discern the true from the false, the real from the unreal, and the fact from the fiction.
The function of education, therefore, is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. But Education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals. We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character-- that is the true goal of education. The complete education gives one not only power of concentration, but worthy objectives upon which to concentrate. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. |

“Leaving this summit, leaving this space, I am going to:
Impart on my students the value of education. In doing so, I am going to be instructing my students on social justice topics in order to make them aware of the world around them and their role as individuals in America. I will lead my student to, on their own, be able to sift & weigh evidence, discern true from the false, real from the unreal and fact from fiction so that they can not only think intensively and critically but also do so with intelligence and character.”
